Love First Worship Bio

Somewhere in West Los Angeles, while waiting for their next order of yakitori, Carmel, Joel, and Peter met together for the first time. The topic was Jesus, the vibe was unscripted, and their fellowship was life-changing. Anyone eavesdropping would have never thought that Jesus could make people laugh so hard, dream so big, and care so deeply. The magic of that friendship eventually became the reason to become the band Love First Worship. Through music and relationships Love First Worship wants to provide a community where people can heal, love, and enjoy their walk with Jesus together.

Love First Worship combines both worship and witness for their events. The goal is never to perform, but to usher in and minister a meaningful refreshment for people's faith journey. Each member is proficient in sharing their testimony in an impactful way. The band has experimented in different conversational formats to better share their story of God's power. Carmel is a proclaimer through and through, and her desperation stirs conviction into the hearts of her listeners. Joel has fresh and creative takes, coupled with sensitive wisdom, inspires a sense of awe and wonder. Finally Peter, through his heart for preaching, and talent for interviews and facilitation passes on his heart for revival in this generation. Each event ministered by Love First Worship has received exciting feedback on how the combination of witness and worship uniquely blessed and encouraged audiences.
 

Meet the Band:

Carmel Skye started her music career early on as a child. Her talent allowed her many opportunities both in music and television. Her career continued to blossom into her adulthood, giving her the opportunity to sing with many top artists, some of who include Elton John, Celine Dion, Beyonce, and Kanye West. While being a part of the music industry, her faith in Jesus has remained passionate, and creates a unique perspective that she is not afraid to share. She is both a writer and vocalist for Love First Worship.

Joel Echols started his music career as a teenager, both as a singer and a songwriter. Joel has stayed connected with the music industry, and in the past has worked with artists like Kanye West on the album Jesus is King. He has also  released his solo album “It’s Possible” with Dove City Ent. in 2010. Joel has also grown as a producer and currently works with Rye Music Productions, a company that  provides sound recording, audio mixing, sound editing and music production, having produced and recorded hundreds of tracks for countless artists, bands, vocalists and TV series. He has been a writer, producer and vocalist for Love First Worship.

Peter Whang is a pastor and church planter in downtown Los Angeles. He is the Sr. Pastor of First Love Ministry. He has been pastoring for close to 17 years, and has preached in over 20 cities leading youth revivals. Peter enjoys singing and writing songs on his guitar during his devotional times. He had no intentions for music, but in 2023 he was discovered by the music publisher Joseph H. Wright, and was connected to both Joel and Carmel in the process. He is both a vocalist and writer for Love First Worship.
